As a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) Guadalupe economic services corporation (GESC) assists Lubbock County residents on a first come-come first-served basis to resolve a crisis involving rent, utilities, clothing, food, hygiene, transportation, educational supportive services and referrals to community partners.
To begin the application process, contact Lubbock County general assistance (LCGA) at 806-775-1605 beginning at 9 am each Friday (excluding holidays) for an appointment the following week. Eligible applicants are screened for services. If the crisis remains unresolved LCGA will send a referral to GESC for further evaluation.
We remain focused on growing, educating, and supporting low-income communities to positively influence the economic, educational, and social outcomes for families and individuals who are below federal poverty income levels.
GESC partners with daycares to provide new winter clothing to children ages 0 to 5 in daycares which offer care based on a sliding scale fee. It's our belief that by providing clothing to the most vulnerable during the coldest months we are promoting preventative medicine.
(Reaching Our Communities) The ROC is a multi-county summer campaign which focuses primarily on supportive services for children. We provide haircuts, sunscreen, summer clothing, hats, snow cones, bikes, books and shoes. The event is free and is held at community centers, churches and schools.
GESC partners year-round with Women's, Children's and Adult Protective Services to provide supportive services to families seeking change.
